Yet Another Way To Clock On

I’d like to introduce you to another great new feature delivered in the recent Deputy 7 release – SMS Clock In/Out.

Now, you may be asking “why would I want my employees to clock in and out using SMS?”

So, why SMS?

A Deputy healthcare client schedules teams to perform procedures at theatres and clinics. It is vital that central administration knows that everyone is in the right place at the right time, and immediately deals with any exceptions. More crucial than accurate location, or photo capture, or anything else, is knowing that every member of a scheduled team is ready to roll. So we made the ability to clock in bullet proof. No laptop? No iPad kiosk? WiFi not available? Don’t have a smartphone? No data plan? SMS clock-in is the lifesaver. Literally.

And there are plenty of other circumstances in which the fallback of SMS will be incredibly useful to our customers.

5 ways to log time

There are now 5 different ways to record time and attendance with Deputy. What makes Deputy unique is the flexibility and creativity of our solution. We think outside the box to meet the particular needs of your business, rather than trying to shoehorn your business into our solution. Many of our competitors only provide a single method of clocking on, some even requiring expensive proprietary hardware. Not Deputy!

Here’s a rundown of the different ways to log time:

1. Deputy Kiosk – Perfect for static work environments, think of the Deputy Kiosk like your own portable time clock. Once employees arrive on site they simply enter a unique PIN to start their shift. You also have the option to capture their photo and verify that the correct person is working each shift. Find out more about the Deputy Kiosk here.

 2. Mobile apps – The Deputy apps for Apple and Android devices allow employees not only to view important announcements and daily tasks but start and end each shift. Our mobile apps will geo-locate each employee at the exact time they start and end a shift, so you’ll know that they’re on site when they claim to be. Perfect for any mobile workforce. 3. Web browser – If your employees have access to a web browser on any device then starting a shift is simple, they can log in at to begin their day. From here they can access the Me Tab to view their upcoming schedule.

4. Manager controlled Clock In/Out – If the majority of your workforce don’t have smartphones or aren’t particularly tech savvy, you can allocate clocking in and out to the manager on shift. They simply start and end employee shifts (plus breaks) as they arrive and leave, from their smartphone or desktop browser.

5. SMS Clock In – Employees can clock in and out of shifts by sending an SMS from their mobile devices. They simply reply to an SMS from Deputy with “start shift.” Here’s how it works.
